No H8

Even though I'm not too popular in the nail art community, I still wanted to say something about this.
I actually just read about this this morning, browsing some of the other blogs that I read daily. And I'm glad that I did. I actually wasn't too aware that things were this bad, that people were
I'm glad that I had a purple mani in storage too. lol

I used Kleancolor here, it doesn't have a name though, as the base.
And for the glitter top coat, Icing Written in the Stars.

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

Icing - I Like the Nightlife

I bought this along with the other polish, Forget You, at Icing with their buy 1 get another half off sale.
I really love this color, it has to be one of my favorite blues in my collection.
Sorry about my horrible clean up... I had to leave for class.

I Like the Nightlife - it does seem like a jelly polish to me, but I can't be sure of that. It does have a lighter blue shimmer/glitter in it and a light purple sheen to it when the light hits it directly. This took 2 coats.

The price of this polish is $4.50 but I bought it on sale.

Wet n Wild - On a Trip and Designs AND Comments About this new brush shape

I came across a swatch of Wet n Wild's On a Trip online and fell in love, I just had to have it. So the next time I went to Walgreens I picked up a bottle. And let me just say, on my nails it is as beautiful as it was on that blog.

On a Trip - a purple creme polish, though it is leaning toward the cool side. There isn't exactly a blue undertone, but it isn't completely purple either. A diifficult polish to name. 2 coats to full opacity and to get to the color in the bottle. These pictures are without topcoat.

Closest to color in real life

Now this is one of those polishes that has those "specially designed brushes", they are thicker brushes that have a bit of a curve to the end. You can see the sticker there on the bottle. Most people have complained about these brushes being too big and bulky, that they made a mess and that they were hard to work with.
For me, it was the complete opposite! I found the curved end was the exact curve of my cuticles and thus, made it much easier to not make a complete mess all over there, and I actually managed to not paint all over my cuticles, which I usually do. Also, the wider brush allowed to paint my nails in fewer strokes. I made less of a mess with this brush than I usually do, even painting with my left hand. I really don't know what the problem is, and I can see more companies switching to this brush because IT WAS EASIER!!

I also did a bit of a design on top of this with one of the Color Club glitters that I got; unfortunately, these do not have names. I talked about them here however: Color Club Glitters
I used the one that has the pink and blue glitters.

I got WetnWild for $1.99 from Walgreens and the Color Club I got in a pack of 7 for $7.99

Pink and Blue Sparkles

I finally got my hands on Revlon Whisical!
I saw swatches of it online months ago and ran out to my local Walgreens looking for it, but they didn't have it; no one in my town did.
So I forgot about it eventually. But finally we got a super Wal-mart up here and they had it, but it was sold out... But the next week I went down and they had it! So of course I got a bottle.
It is the most amazing glitter I own. It is such a delicate glitter, it's not overpowering to the color underneath, I love it!

I chose to pair it with OPI What's With the Cattitude?
I have had this OPI for who knows how long and I have never used it...
The formula was weird with the first coat, streaky and very thin, but luckily with the second coat it was all fixed and to full opacity. A few nails, however, I did need to do three coats where the brush pulled the nail polish. This is a creme polish.

The middle finger I did two coats of the glitter to show what it would look like more built up, and to see if it would even go thicker.
The glitter was actually a little hard to apply, it is suspended in a rather thin, very sheer, light blue shimmery blue base. The glitter kept wanting to migrate to the tips of my nails when I would just brush it on, but it didn't really want to pat on either. I did end up brushing this on like normal polishes and it turned out okay. A few nails have a bit of glitter up near the tips.

OPI I got a while ago from a local salon, so I don't remember the exact price; probably around $7-8.

Revlon was $3.95? Somewhere around there and I got it at Wal-mart.
It was below $4.

What do you think of this combo?

Rimmel and Color Club

I wanted to do something with the glitter top coats that I just got, so I came up with this.
I used Rimmel Londoon Lasting Finish Pro - Burgundy Flirt as the base color and Color Club's red sparkle that doesn't have a name on the bottle for the tips.

Burgundy Flirt - this polish does seem like a jelly polish to me, though I have never used one, so I cannot say for sure. It was a bit difficult to work with, it was on the thin side and needed three coats to get to the color in the bottle and it still showed my nail line. Though, when I brought this to a salon for them to put this on my toes for a pedicure, they did thin this down, so your's may be completely different! I also have had this polish for a couple of years.
In different lights, this red does look different, though most typically it is a very deep color like the last two pictures.

Color Club - just red sparkles. They are small sized and went on very well, one coat got very good coverage.

Rimmel London is most typically $2-$2.50 at Walmart but that price sometimes flactuates if it is on sale.

I got this Color Club in a pack of 7 polishes for $7.99 from Ross.

Ross Department Store Haul

I just recently found out that Ross sold nail polishes; I honestly had no clue! I had never seen them before, though going to my local Ross, I can see why I never knew. They didn't have a very big selection, though what they did have was pretty good.
They do have Color Club there, which I have been unable to find anywhere else, so I was happy to see those there.
Everything they sold came in packs, but for the price it was worth it, even if you didn't like a few colors. Because they came in packs of about 7 polishes or so, but were only about $6-$8 each so for that price if you don't like two or three polishes you are still getting for polishes for only $6.

First off, I got a Color Club pack, it doesn't have a name anywhere on it, but they are all just glitters of different colors. They all have a clear base as well. This was a pack of seven, the seventh polish was a clear coat.

The first is a silver small sized glitter. There are also a little bit of turquoise, green, pink, yellow, blue and other assorted colors in this glitter to give it more of a holo effect, but over all it is silver and the holor is very minimal. I haven't tried it on yet and I will hopefully have swatches soon.

Next, a light blue small sized glitter. This one also has different colored glitter: silver, blue, pink, green, yellow.

This one is a red small sized glitter. This is actually the only one in the collection that doesn't have any other colors in its glitter, but I actually like that. In my opinion, it would have ruined the look of the glitter if they had added all those different colors to this one. And I have worn this one! So I will be posting pictures of this soon.

This glitter is a darker blue than the first with pink small sized glitter (they are both small glitter). I put that it is two colors, because both the pink and blue are about even in how much is in the bottle, though if I had to choose a predominant color I would have to say it looks more blue just because it is darker and stands out more. This one also has the little bits of turquoise, green, yellow, just for a little bit of shine.
I would have to say that this is my favorite out of the whole collection.

Next is a light pink small sized glitter. This one has bits of silver that stands out when you look closely, and then this one also has the other colors in it as well, but only when you really look close and are looking for them.

And lastly! This was a bright gold small sized glitter. This one also has all the different colors in it that are a bit obvious when the light hits it, at least in the bottle.

Unfortunately, none of these polishes had names on them, so I can't tell you there names other than they are Color Club brand.
For these 7 polishes I paid $7.99 at Ross.

I also bought a brand named L.A. Colors, now I had never heard of this brand so I didn't really expect much for this... But I did a quick run over my nails with each color when I was out eating with my mom and they were actually pigmented! I did have a problem with the white that is in this pack though, it was very streaky and just would not cooperate, but the other polishes were great. Oh, and the beige that is in here is way too close to my skin tone so it doesn't even show up, but it's not that it's sheer, it's just that it is ractically my exact skin tone.
These were a pack of 7 and were a mix of shimmers and cremes.

The brushes are very thin on this brand, so they are little bit harder to work with. All of the polishes were pigmented and went on very well, except for the white. They have a little emblem on the back of all of their polishes and their package that states that they are cruelty free as well. Which is a plus.

First, the white. It is a creme. That's pretty much all I have to say.

Next is a beautiful silvery beige shimmer. The beige isn't very prominent at first but when I was trying them on my nails, the silver kind of fell to the side and the brown-ish color really stood out, this color is so hard to discribe... At first I didn't think much of this color, but when I was trying them on I fell in love and now it's one of my favorites of the collection.

This one is the beige creme. It does go on well it's just too close to my skin color for me to even see it.

This one is another of my favorites. It is a very cool blue shimmer.

This one actually took me by surprise, I didn't expect to like this one but I did. It's a very pale shimmery green. I don't tend to like greens, but this one is so light and refreshing.

This one is lavender creme, that's about all I can say. I actually bought this pack just for this one polish, because I did love it. But once I got it home I found out that I had so many other polishes like it, but not exactly. Like, Milani Violet Dash or Wet n Wild On a Trip.

Lastly, this is my least favorite of the bunch. I hate pinks... This is a barbie pink creme. Enough said.

None of these had names as well...
I bought all these 7 polishes for $5.99 from Ross.

And last I bought a pack of Wet n Wild. These did have names!
This one only had a pack of 6.

The first in this pack was a deep purple shimmer. The name is Dysturbia. I also got this home and found it a bit similar to Maybelline Pum Paradise, just the Wet n Wild was a bit darker and more of a burgendy color.

Second, the name is Milk. This is kind of an off white color. I haven't tried it on yet to know how sheer it will go on.

The next two look very similar. The one to the left, Hush Hush is a creme and a bit lighter; where as the one to the right, Break the Ice is a bit draker with a shimmer. These are also an off white color, but much lighter than Milk. I also haven't tried these on to know how sheer they are.

Next is a very bright red creme, Red Tape. This one is very bright.

And last is a black with a copper micro glitter in it, Blackmail. This is my absolute favorite from this collection. The copper glitter is so different and stands out when you get it on your nails, really amazing color.

This Collection includes, from left to right:
Disturbia, Milk, Hush Hush, Break The Ice, Red Tape, Black Mail
I got this pack for $2.99 from Ross.

In the end, I found all of these polishes to be amazing. And to have gotten 20 polishes for less than $20, that is amazing!
I will be shopping at Ross again. I hope they have a bigger selection of Color Club next time. Lol.

Black and Gold

I did this nail polish the other day, finally using the Hunger Games nail polish that I got in the mail a while ago. With it being such a bright sparkle I didn't really know how to use it, whether I wanted to wear it over something or just do a few coats and wear just that. Finally I got over my indecisiveness and just picked it up and put it on.

I wore China Glaze Electrify over Sinful Colors Black on Black, which is just a creme black and on my ring finger I just wore it plain; 3 coats and the glitter was solid enough to cover up my nail.

Electify definitely has a fiery shine to it that I couldn't really capture in the photos. I do think it would have looked better if I had done a gradient rather than just painted it on, but I'll just have to do that next time.

China Glaze - Luxe and Lush

I finally got China Glaze Luxe and Lush in the mail yesterday! So instead of completely redoing my nails, I just put it on the nails that I already had done because they hadn't chipped yet.
I had on Sinful Colors Midnight Blue which I talked about here

Luxe and Lush - is a polish that  you really need to wear over another color. It's a very large glitter that is foil, if that makes sense... They're foil pieces to make up the polish. They foils are a gold sheen and a pearl-ish opal that change colors as the light hits them.
When I went to put this on, I was dabbing it on at first and it made it go on really thick, as you can see. But on my right hand, which I don't have pictures of, I started to just paint it on like I would a normal polish and it went on much more scattered, and in my own opinion, I like the look better.
The pictures did not capture how beautiful this polish really is!

When I put this polish on however... When I went to put on the clear topcoat, which you will need one because the foil is kind of chunky, but the polish wasn't dry yet.. Well, the blue polish ran over the Luxe and Lush polish a bit!
Now let me remind you, I have had the blue polish on my nails for a few days now, so I didn't even think that it would have wet it again.
But now the little foils have a little sheen of blue now. I would prefer that they didn't because it did take away from the shine, but keep this in mind when putting on a top coat.

Milani Yellow Whiz

In this I am just wearing Milani Yellow Whiz. It is a very bright yellow.
The bottle says that it is a "fast dry", it did dry quite fast. Faster than most polishes anyway and I didn't put a quick dry top coat on top of it.

I didn't do anything special with my nails today. In a few days I am going to update this post with pictures of me putting China Glaze Fairy Dust over this yellow to see how it looks because it may tone down how bold this color is and add a bit of sparkle.

I did add that Fairy Dust to the manicure that I had in the very first post that I have here. It looks absolutely wonderful on top of black. I would've posted pictures, but my camera doesn't pick up the fine sparkles. It does have pink, blue, green, and gold very fine sparkles in it. Though it does make your polish a bit dull because as you might be able to see from the bottle, the actual polish is a bit grey, it's not completely clear.
But I will post pictures when I put it on this yellow.

______________________________

I finally got the Fairy Dust on this polish.
And I was right it did tone down the yellow quite a bit.
I don't know if I like it all that much.. I think the Fairy Dust is more suited towards darker polishes. On this one, it almost makes the polish look dirty, in my opinion anyway.
My camera didn't really want to pick up the little sparkles.. I tried everything. But right now it's getting dark so I can't sit next to a window; I'm just using a lamp. You can see them really good in the bottle and a little bit on my ring and pnky finger... But these pictures do not do this polish justice. It has a ton of little sparkles that catch the light, like they do in the bottle.
But what makes the yellow polish look dirty, is that there are also a little bit of grey fleck in there too that doesn't sparkle. I didn't pick that up when I had it on Sally Hansen Black Platinum, and that could also have been what made it look a little bit dull.

Milani - Appox. $4 (Walgreens)
China Glaze - Approx. $5 (on sale Sally Beauty Supply)

New Polishes and Tools

I bought new polishes today and yesterday and I just wanted to show them off a bit. I also bought some dotting tools and striping tape. I will update when I actually get them on my fingers, and what they look like on, but as of right now I only have the names and the bottles. I did buy some online too so I don't actually have those in my posession.

But the polishes that I got from the store yesterday were Milani Yellow Whiz, Sally Hansen XTreme Wear Sun Kissed, China Glaze Fairy Dust, Beauty Secrets Top Coat, ORLY Nail Defense Base Coat, and this last one doesn't have a name on it but it's brand name is Sally Girl and it's a chunky gold glitter.

The ones that I bought online are China Glaze Luxe and Lush, China Glaze Fast Track, and China Glaze Electrify all from the Hunger Games Collection.

Milani - Approx. $4 (Walgreens)
Sally Hansen - Approx. $3 (Walgreens)
China Glaze Fairy Dust - Approx. $5 (on sale, Sally Beauty)
China Glaze (The Rest) - Approx. $4.50 each (Amazon)
